Under the Surveillance Devices Act we provide independent oversight of the use of surveillance devices by the following 5 bodies, that can apply to the courts for warrants to use optical, listening, tracking and data surveillance devices:
- Victoria Police
- IBAC
- Victorian Fisheries Authority
- Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning
- Games Management Authority
Regular inspections
We conduct inspections of each body’s records. Our findings are presented in biannual reports that are provided to the responsible Minister and each House of Parliament.
